Practical Nursing (PN) Student Work Study Program

At PES School of Nursing Education, we believe in creating opportunities for students to grow professionally while helping reduce educational expenses. The PN Student Work Study Program allows eligible students to earn tuition credit directly toward their student account while gaining valuable real-world experience.

Students may apply for one of two work study pathways:

  1. Student Marketing Ambassador Program
  2. Administrative Assistant Work Study Program


All positions are limited and competitive. Participation is not guaranteed. Students must apply for and be accepted into the work study program. On accepted and approved PN students are eligible for the work study program. 

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be actively enrolled in the PN program
  • Remain in good academic standing
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance
  • Have no active disciplinary actions
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reliability
  • Complete the application and interview process
  • Successfully complete required training and orientation


Preference will be given to students with:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Prior healthcare or customer service experience
  • Positive instructor recommendations
  • Strong attendance history

Application and selection process

Students interested in participating must:

  1. Submit a Work Study Application
  2. Submit a current resume
  3. Participate in an interview
  4. Receive formal acceptance into the program
  5. Complete required orientation/training
  6. Sign confidentiality and professionalism agreements


Selection is competitive and based on:

  • Professionalism
  • Communication skills
  • Reliability
  • School performance
  • Program needs

Not all applicants will be accepted.

Tuition Credit structure

  • Students receive $20 per approved hour worked
  • Credits are applied directly to the student’s tuition balance
  • Credits are not redeemable for cash
  • Hours must be approved by administration
  • Students are limited to 10 hours per week per term. 
  • Fraudulent reporting of hours will result in immediate dismissal from the program
  • Students may not exceed approved weekly hour limits
  • Tuition credits may take up to 10 business days to post to student accounts

Program 1
Student Marketing Ambassador Program

Program Purpose

The Student Marketing Ambassador Program is designed for outgoing, motivated students who enjoy networking, social media, community outreach, and helping others learn about PES programs.


Student ambassadors help promote the school within the community while developing leadership, communication, and professional networking skills.


Responsibilities May Include

Students may assist with:

  • Community outreach events
  • Career fairs
  • Open houses
  • Social media promotion
  • Referral initiatives
  • Distribution of flyers and marketing materials
  • Speaking with prospective students
  • Sharing student experiences
  • Assisting with school events
  • Creating approved social media content
  • Helping increase awareness of PES programs

Expectations

Marketing ambassadors must:

  • Represent the school professionally at all times
  • Follow all branding and marketing guidelines
  • Avoid making false or misleading statements
  • Maintain professional conduct online and in person
  • Receive approval before posting official PES content
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information

Additional Requirements

Students in this role:

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • May occasionally attend evening or weekend events
  • Must be comfortable communicating with the public
  • May be evaluated based on professionalism, participation, and engagement

Program 2
Administrative Assistant Work Study Program

Program Purpose

The Administrative Assistant Work Study Program allows students to gain hands-on administrative and office experience while supporting daily school operations.


Students selected for this role will assist the administrative team during regular business hours.


This role is available to first term students ONLY. 



Responsibilities May Include

Administrative assistants may assist with:

  • Answering phones
  • Greeting visitors
  • Filing and organizing documents
  • Assisting with student paperwork
  • Scheduling support
  • Data entry
  • Email communication
  • Assisting instructors and administration
  • Maintaining office organization
  • Preparing training materials
  • Monitoring student sign-ins
  • Assisting with onboarding and orientation tasks

Expectations

Students selected for this position must:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times
  • Arrive on time and in proper attire
  • Communicate respectfully with students and visitors
  • Follow FERPA and privacy guidelines
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks accurately

Office Hours

Administrative assistant work study hours will generally occur during:

  • Normal school business hours
  • Scheduled administrative coverage periods
  • Approved special events

Schedules will be determined based on:

  • Student availability
  • School operational needs
  • Academic performance

Training Requirements

All accepted students must complete:

  • Orientation
  • Confidentiality training
  • FERPA/privacy education
  • Customer service expectations
  • Professional communication training
  • Role-specific onboarding

Additional training may be required at any time.


Removal From Program

Students may be removed from the Work Study Program for:

  • Attendance concerns
  • Academic decline
  • Professionalism violations
  • Insubordination
  • Policy violations
  • Confidentiality breaches
  • Failure to complete assigned duties
  • Inaccurate reporting of hours
  • Social media misconduct


Removal from the program may occur immediately and without warning depending on the severity of the issue.
