Philosophy

Our School of Nursing embraces a philosophy grounded in the belief that nursing is both an art and a science, a profession that embodies compassion, integrity, and a commitment to the well-being of individuals and communities. We envision nursing as a holistic and collaborative practice that recognizes the inherent dignity of each person. Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that nursing education is a transformative journey, where students evolve into empathetic, culturally competent, and critically-thinking professionals.

We value the integration of evidence-based knowledge, hands-on skills, and ethical principles as the foundation of nursing education. Our commitment extends beyond the classroom, fostering experiential learning opportunities that empower students to apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. We believe in cultivating a learning environment that encourages curiosity, embraces diversity, and promotes a spirit of inquiry.

Central to our philosophy is the recognition that nursing is dynamic and ever-evolving. Therefore, we are dedicated to preparing students not only for current healthcare challenges but also for the future landscape of healthcare. We emphasize the importance of adaptability, lifelong learning, and the pursuit of excellence in the delivery of patient-centered care.

In line with these principles, our School of Nursing is committed to graduating competent, compassionate, and socially responsible nurses who contribute positively to the advancement of healthcare and the well-being of those they serve. Through a transformative educational experience, we strive to inspire our students to become leaders and advocates for health equity, ensuring that the values of nursing are woven into the fabric of their professional journey.

Conceptual Framework

Our School of Nursing's conceptual framework is founded and modeled on nursing theorist Katie Eriksson’s model of caring. We adapted these four concepts to build our core principles of Excellence and Ethics, Compassion, and Innovation, forming the foundation for the transformative education we provide. These three pillars guide our approach to nursing education, shaping the development of competent and compassionate nursing professionals who contribute to the advancement of healthcare.

The intersection of Excellence and Ethics, Compassion, and Innovation creates a synergistic learning environment where students are not only equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills but are also inspired to embody the values of the nursing profession. This conceptual framework serves as a guide for curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and the overall student experience, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to excel in the complex and rewarding field of nursing.

Excellence and Ethics:

We uphold academic and clinical excellence as the cornerstone of our nursing education. This pillar emphasizes the acquisition of evidence-based knowledge, advanced clinical skills, and a commitment to professional growth. By fostering a culture of excellence, we empower students to meet the evolving challenges of the healthcare landscape. We believe in building an ethical foundation to ensure that are students always do what’s right, even if it may not be popular or easy. Ethics is a core component to practicing nursing and our graduates will have a strong understanding of the ethical practice of nursing in today’s modern world.

Compassion

At the heart of our conceptual framework is a commitment to compassionate and patient-centered care. This pillar recognizes the unique needs of individuals and communities, inspiring a sense of empathy and cultural competence in our students. We believe that compassionate care is integral to fostering healing, building trust, and creating positive healthcare experiences.

Innovation

Embracing the dynamic nature of healthcare, our framework prioritizes innovation in education, practice, and research. This pillar encourages a spirit of inquiry, adaptability to emerging technologies, and a forward-thinking approach to addressing healthcare challenges. We aim to prepare nurses who are not only adept at current practices but are also leaders in shaping the future of healthcare.
